Bruce Muirden was born in Melbourne and educated at Adelaide University where he studied history. He worked as a journalist in Australia and the United Kingdom. From 1949-1952, he edited his own literary journal "Austovert". He received many favourable reviews for his study of the Australia First Movement, "The puzzled patriots", published in 1968.
